Ron Parkins

Ron Parkins

Ron was born in Tacoma, Washington on January 17, 1961 to a military family. Both his parents were sergeants in the Army. From there they were stationed in CA, KY, HI, and NY. He graduated from Washingtonville High School in New York in 1979, and then joined the Army. Ron was stationed in Hawaii as a Military Policeman, where he met his wife Virginia. They have been married for 37 years and have two daughters, 34 and 30, and one son, 26.  They have 5 adorable granddaughter's ages 11 years - 21 months.

While growing up, Ron would visit his grandmother in CA, where he attended the Church of the Nazarene with her. After getting out of the Army, he and Virginia moved to the Hemet Valley and started attending The Open Bible Church where he was baptized in 1982. In 1984 he fell away from the Lord for a few years. After starting to attend church again at the Hemet Church of the Nazarene in Hemet, he rededicated his life to the Lord after an evangelist, Steven Manley, spoke at the church.

Ron then got involved with an outreach ministry to Baja Mexico with Marty and Nancy Cooper in 1989. This later became the Baja Outreach Ministry at Bible Fellowship Church. He also made two missionary trips to Nicaragua with the Nazarene Church. Virginia was a volunteer with the local crisis pregnancy center that BFC started and helped support, which is now called Birth Choice. She decided to visit BFC, and she really enjoyed the Bible teaching of Pastor Gil Olsen, as well as the youth ministry at BFC. They decided to leave the Nazarene Church, and attend BFC because of the need for a better Youth Ministry for their teenager in 1997.

Ron has led Bible studies in his home and attended small groups, and been a greeter and involved in various projects at the church. Virginia has been involved in BFC Children's Ministry, and is also involved with Community Bible Study, which meets at BFC.
